Ralph Alvy

I'm a California chiropractor by day and a CompuServe sysop by night. As a chiropractor, I run my practice with a billing application I wrote with DataPerfect. As a sysop at WordPerfect Users Forum on CompuServe (WPUSERS), I've been managing the DataPerfect section for many years. I've authored numerous articles on DataPerfect, as well as taught a two-day seminar series on DataPerfect application development in a handful of cities across the U.S. in 1994 and 1995. My book on this subject will be out the end of 1996. My main responsibility on the DataPerfect Co-Op Board of Directors is managing the Co-Op's presence on CompuServe.

Ralph is releasing his new book on DataPerfect in January 1997. Look for more information on his book including experts here on this Web Site.

Steven E. Patamia

Steven E. Patamia was nominated and elected as one of the five initial directors of the Co-op. He has been involved with DP since approximately 1986. Around 1987 he created and caused to be published nationally the first commercial DP application, called DPDocket. In the early 90's, Steve developed and caused to be published a utility called DataMate which implemented serious modifications to the keyboard interface to DP and provided a number of data security features. Near the end of 1995, Steve first published DPMouse which provides comprehensive mouse awareness to DP including the ability to create all manner of mouse buttons that generate keystrokes and invoke Shell macros. (DPMouse incorporates the DataMate keyboard interface.)

Steve has been a systems programmer on mainframes from the late 60's, an applications programmer on minis and micros from the late 70's til present, and done systems programming for PC's since the DataMate project began in the late 80's. While experienced in many computer languages, Steve's primary development language for both applications and systems work is C++. In his current situation, Steve also creates scientific applications for PC and Unix environments.

In addition to a computer background, Steve has both a Math degree and a Law Degree (JD, 1977) (with several years active practice) and is currently a PhD candidate in theoretical physics. During the 70's, Steve was also a general-aviation commercial pilot and professional instrument flight instructor. From about 1980 thru the early 90's Steve was a computer consultant and systems integrator. Steve lives in Gainesville, Florida, USA, where he is completing his physics PhD at the University of Florida. Although present circumstances preclude their current pursuit, he has been avocationally involved in scuba diving, sailing, climbing, and various martial arts.
