A user recently inquired about the DP Web Authoring app. I hope this article answers some questions about this application.
The application, in which I am now writing this article, is currently under developement. At the moment, I am creating panels and reports as I need them in order to update the web site. However, I have not yet devoted myself to creating a full blown web site authoring tool in DP. The possiblity for such an application is not in the too distant future however.
Many areas of the DP app are taylored specifically to this web site. Therefore, it may not be an appropriate version to use on most web sites. The News Room panels could be used by a webmaster who wants the current format. A small graphics logo would be needed for the top of each article (this could be deleted) and a "links" graphic would also be needed for the left panel of the web site. Other than that, the News Room could be used on virtually any web site and would be an immediate new feature. However, some of the other panels, such as the User's Home Pages, would need some changes if they were to be used on another web site.
Another immediate web site feature could be the Counter Hit Reports. These panels are designed to store the information from the web site counter which is a free link. To generate a report, the webmaster simply enteres the required data into the panels and runs the report. A fresh report can be created in less than 10 minutes and you never see the HTML code.
If you are a Webmaster and would like to test an application, I can develop a generic DP application that would allow you to create and update your web site. You would have to provide your own graphics or, at least and idea of what you would like your graphics to look like. I am not a graphic artist, and therefore, my skills in that area are limited. Also, some knowledge of the HTML language would be helpful on your part, but it is not absolutely necessary. I can assist you in this area as well if your knowledge of HTML is lacking. Cost or Fees for such an application can be discussed and I'm sure we can reach an agreement.
