The DP User's Cooperative

The DP User's Cooperative (DPUC) is an Internet Corporation that was created by the users of DataPerfect in response to the continuous demand of users for DataPerfect upgrades, technical support, and continued development of DataPerfect into other platforms. Over 96 people from 20 countries around the world have participated in the discussions which led to this startup of DPUC.

The DPUC is governed by a Board of Directors which were voted into office by user/voter referendum on October, 1996. The following is a list of accomplishments of the DPUC as of June 22, 1997:


  • Developing a Plan to create tools that would allow users to create Windows GUI versions of DataPerfect databases. Project in Planning Stage
  • Published and sold first printing (approx 200 copies) of "Mastering DataPerfect"; the first comprehensive manual written by Ralph Alvy about DataPerfect which includes the latest upgrade features.
  • Named a Corel Solutions Partner, and pre-qualified as a Corel Users Group.
  • Sold 15 copies of Corel's WordPerfect 6.2 DOS Suite at $99 in five countries.
  • DPUC membership drive to fund projects through dues. To date, 109 members/customers in 14 countries, including 28 States and Washington D.C. in the USA.
  • As a for-profit corporation, the DPUC made a profit during the first Quarter of 1997, and is expected to do so again during second Quarter.
